What a pair these two are.

Oh, well, what a lovely strong relationship these two have if it can't cope with children. The defence lawyer got it in one (well I would say that, because it's what I said):

'Dr Armellin's barrister Kim Burke said the pair's loss of their lives as a couple was commonly experienced by parents across Australia.

"I suggest to you you have described the situation nearly every couple in Australia suffers in the circumstances where they are no longer in a single relationship with each other but they've the burden of a child or children."'

But not lesbian parents, obviously, because it all works out. See, here in the project plan they should have completed their trip to have the child blessed by the homophobic Dalai Lama, next year they'll go and see their guru in India somewhere. Only breeders have these problems, not us.

They're not fit to have children because they don't want them. It's not a gay issue, it's a parenting problem - these two are obviously emotionally illiterate if they didn't think this would have happened with just a single child let alone two. The mind boggles over just how naive these two were to think it would be all roses. Unbelievable.

It's money-grubbing and they're using their child to get at that money. I don't care what anyone says, these two should have both children removed from them while they work out what real life is. They seem to think that the problems that affect heterosexual couples are not applicable to them and want financial compensation for it. The whole thing is preposterous.

These people are idiots. Pure and simple. Let's break this down.

'A lesbian woman felt violated and devastated when she learned she was pregnant with twins, after she had told a Canberra obstetrician she only wanted one child through IVF, a court heard yesterday.'

So, after fighting for the right to have a child as a same-sex couple, they're now whining about how many they've got. Not to mention the sheer gumption to complain when there are so many people who are unable to have any children at all because they lack the funds to pay for IVF. As far as I am aware, IVF usually consists of multiple implants to ensure success and prevent multiple cycles which are invasive and difficult psychologically. It's also fairly obvious they got it done in Canberra so they could move straight out after things were moving.

'In what is believed to be the first case of its kind in the territory, a former Canberra woman and her female partner are suing obstetrician and gynaecologist Sydney Robert Armellin for the wrongful birth of one of their twin girls, now aged three, claiming more than $400,000 for the cost of raising her to the age 21.'

Well, that's just dandy. How to make your kiddies feel welcomed into their life, which is going to be difficult enough given they have lesbian parents. No matter how 'tolerant' our society is, these kids are going to get stick, no matter what the story books say. To get it at home from my two mums is not going to help. And $400K? Is that all she thinks it's going to cost? Sheer, unadulterated money-grubbing. Where did they find their lawyer?

'She and her partner, who were living in Watson at the time, had planned to go to England after the birth, but their plans were scrapped when they discovered they would be having twins, jeopardising their careers, relationship and health'

Oh, schnookums. Guess what, a child or children, brings that sort of stress to any new parent. Poor wee things couldn't take their new trophy child on a trip to England. Guess what? Not many people can. And there's a fun key word in there: 'expect'. Nobody knows what's going to happen after their children are born. Did your kids put a dent in your perfect little plan? Did your kids inconvenience your social whirl? Did having twins stress you so badly that you couldn't get your face on the cover of OUT for being so brave?

Oh, that makes perfect sense...oh, wait no it doesn't. No clue at all. None. You can't plan a single thing - it's in the lap of the gods. If you want to plan, prepare for disappointment. What kind of thought processes did these women engage to get to this point? Dumb ones. They probably bought a whole bunch of stuff and picked out a bunch of crap names and then got the shock of their lives when it didn't all pan out when they checked their project plan on their computer.

These women are complete morons and I hope their identities are no longer suppressed by the judge. They deserve to be shown for the utter witless fools that they are. This is life, kids, get used to it. They should, like anyone, have had to go through a screening process before being allowed to have this procedure. It's pretty obvious they just wanted a little plaything and when the cold, hard light of reality dawned on them, they realised they didn't really want kids. Stiff shit.

Aren't you putting your kids through enough without making them think one of them shouldn't have been there? Is it not enough that their father is an unidentified Danish man 'because one of thier fathers was German?' They had even considered aborting a perfectly healthy fetus.

Pull yourselves together and be human about this. This is disgraceful behaviour, I don't care if they're gay or straight, this sort of stuff shouldn't even make it to court. I sincerely hope your children find out about this and tear you apart, and with any luck, are straight-laced, buttoned-down Christians just to to really wind you up.

Tax Evasion Worse Than Sexual Assault And Child Porn

Glenn Wheatley, who by all accounts is a reasonable chap who got caught with his hand in the till, copped thirty months (15 minimum) for tax evasion and other dreary stuff. He didn't steal from others, he just neglected to pay the applicable tax. He ended up paying up, co-operating, did a deal and then that deal was reneged upon by the prosecutors. Nice.

But, if you want to get away with raping a girl, degrading her, filming the whole thing and then distributing it on DVD, just plead guilty and you'll get an "adolescent sexual rehabilitation program." (Source)

No, really, go right ahead. We'll get you in a room with a middle-aged woman who'll harangue you instead of getting what you really deserve, which is a shower with Big Ken in Cell Block D. Aggravated sexual assault in company? Pah! It's off to a caring-sharing tea and biscuits night. Tax evasion? Big Ken for you!

Prison a little bit twicky for poor schnookums? Oooooooohhhhhh....have a shorter jail sentence. That's the point of jail! To make life hard. Depressive illness or not, he still did it.

Eight months was already manifestly inappropriate, but less because of his chosen profession is a joke. I won't even bother getting into Matthew Newton's conviction being quashed. Hitting someone because you can't be arsed gettting help is a lame excuse.

What the buggery bollocks is going on here? Wheatley did the wrong thing, no question. He thought he'd get away with it because he's famous (but, in my opinion, is getting his just punishment for unleashing Delta Goodrem on us) but appears to be paying a rather high price, higher than the appropriate punishment doled out to Rene Rivkin.

The Age article suggests that there are seven (seven!) more youths to be tried over the Werribee DVD. What will they get? Poked with cushions? I think the lot of them should be filmed with Big Kev and have that smeared all over the internet while they scream for their mothers. I don't care if they were minors, common human decency does not allow for this type of behaviour.

The judiciary in this country have absolutely no regard for women who have been harmed in such a disgraceful manner. These people barely broach the line between human and animal let they are allowed the equivalent of a Cubs meeting instead of a good hard walloping in jail. They must think they've got away with it because they have. Perhaps the judges in these cases ought to spend some time with the victims of these crimes before being allowed to pass such ludicrous sentences.

Aboriginal Children Deserve More

The recent report into the terrifying conditions endured by Aboriginal children in the Northern Territory seems to have come too late for an entire generation of young indigenous people.

The Prime Minister, John Howard, has finally done something to stem the tide of abuse. He has banned alcohol and X-rated pornography (is there any other kind?) from Aboriginal land for six months as well as a string of measures linking welfare payments to child health and school attendance. Source

Predictably, and fairly, many Aboriginal groups have given the PM a bucketing and praise in seemingly equal amounts.

Then white people weigh in. Senator Lynn Allison (who?), the leader of the Australian Democrats (the what?) has carried on about it being a 'jackboot approach' and 'authoritarian.' She is seemingly at odds with the National Indigenous Council and Reconciliation Australia. Ms Allison, telephone call - it's the 1980s, they want their political cliches back.

At what point will the people governing this country realise that indigenous people's problems cannot be solved by white people's solutions. While you can't agree with everything Howard has done, especially not his methods or timing, at least he's done something. Where's Aunty Lyn when proper, real life issues like this are doing the rounds? Where are the Democrats when the media aren't talking about this when they should. Nowhere, that's where.

Alcohol and pornography are white man constructs, along with nasty diseases, that have helped Aboriginal Australia into the mess they're in now. Welfare is another white construct where, poorly and thoughtlessly applied (as it has been) digs them in even deeper.

If nothing else, the report has highlighted just how little hope these people have of ever breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect. What's Lyn Allison got to say? She grabs the lyrics from an early-80's punk song, practises here Rik-from-the-Young-Ones impersonation (right down to her lack of alternatives) and off she goes. I don't doubt she genuinely cares because she does appear to be quite compassionate, but where are her alternative suggestions? I refer you to my earlier comment about her position when she should be rustling up trouble.

At least Bob Brown attacked the Government for taking too long. When will Champagne Socialists like the Democrats finally realise that sometimes removing the rights of someone to drink themselves to death and abuse the hope out of someone less fortunate can possibly be the right thing to do?

Howard clearly hasn't thought through the ramifications of some of his decisions - removing permits to allow anyone on to Aboriginal land is disrespectful and is fomenting land-rights-related opposition. Which, while I'm here, is another one of my problems - what the hell are selected members of the Aboriginal community complaining about when they dredge up land rights into the debate? Are you serious? Big picture guys - your people are being destroyed before they even learn to speak and that's all you've got? Land Rights?

ATSIC was destroyed by people like this, people like Geoff Clarke who brought a union-thug stance to its leadership (along with a boxer-style entourage). Were they caring for their people? No, they were busy scoring cheap political points and pulling stunts rather than trying to convince the Government that Aboriginal self-determination and in many cases, self-regulation may just be an answer.

White people don't know how to save Aboriginal Australia, both Howard and Allison have shown that. White people are the ones who've plunged indigenous Australians into this mess. Rather than properly consult with the people we've done so little to help, white governments have successively tried to apply a Western mindset to a distinctly different-thinking culture. We're just not getting it. If we don't act as a people, black or white, to save an important and irreplacable part of the Australian - no, the global - community, they will sink lower and lower. Never mind Queensland being like Zimbabwe, this whole country will rightfully be labeled just as bad.
